Phénia Marras, from the French Biodiversity Agengy, introducing the Side Event
- Date: June 9, 2025 3PM
- Site: Pavilion “Beyond Borders: Ocean Futures” at La Baleine - Green Zone
- More Info
The main objective of the event was to explore the role of Particularly Sensitive Sea Areas (PSSAs) as an essential tool for integrated ecosystem management, in order to better understand how these areas, as Area Management Tools (AMTs), could contribute to the 30×30 conservation target and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14), in complementarity with the BBNJ Agreement.
At the end of the event, participants gained a better understanding of the importance of MPAs in achieving global conservation goals, and of the need to establish management measures for the marine sector to maintain and protect biological and ecosystem connectivity within and beyond national jurisdictions.
