Thermal Dome expedition kicks off. Scientists will place smart buoys in the Dome

Knowledge-gathering activities around the Thermal Dome continue. As part of the SEDA (Socio-Ecosystem Diagnostic Analysis), an expedition to the Thermal Dome area is being organized in collaboration with LOV Laboratory (Laboratoire d’Océanographie/Laboratory of Oceanography, Institut de la mer de Villefranche). Six ARGO floats equipped with hydrophones will be deployed in early November to obtain the first noise model of the area. The first data will be analyzed by Scripps (Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego).

The expedition is partly funded by the Blue Action Fund.
