Post-2020 GBF: what’s next for the Ocean?

PUBLISHED Date

Adopted in Montreal last 19 December 2022, the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework includes several objectives and targets that cover the Ocean and coasts and aimed at transforming the way these ecosystems are managed. Their implementation however raises many challenges and requires, in particular, to integrate the GBF into intergovernmental marine-related organisations and to pay special attention to the high seas.
